Management Recruiters of Berkeley has been retained by one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s top hospitals to conduct a search for a Manager, Respiratory Services position (direct report to Administrative Director, Ancillary Services). The Respiratory Care Department provides a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic services to patients with heart and lung disorders, including special programs for Smoking Cessation and Asthma Education. A recipient of Health Grade’s “America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award” for three years running, the facility is licensed for over 200 beds and offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services, including award-winning stroke care.  Though the organization has a history of serving Bay Area patients that spans over a century, the facility itself is new and state-of-the-art as it was recently rebuilt to meet the growing needs of the community.

Position Profile

Our client is seeking a Respiratory Care leader with the vision to manage and provide operational leadership to their Respiratory Care Department. The Respiratory Manager plans and organizes the department operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care consistent with applicable laws, standards and regulations. They take a strategic approach in identifying best practices, standardizing workflows/processes, developing plans of action to implement changes, and resolving challenging or complex situations. They establish and manage capital and operational budgets to achieve financial targets via effective utilization of personnel, resources and supplies. The Respiratory Manager also develops and maintains a solid partnership with internal and external peers, leaders, and/or local/state/federal agencies to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives or issues resolution.

Qualifications Required

  • Valid Licensure: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
  • Bachelors in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related field
  • 5 years progressive clinical/healthcare management and/or Respiratory Services operations experience with increasing responsibilities
  • 4 years’ experience as Respiratory Care Practitioner in an acute care setting with a solid understanding of operations
  • Experience with
    • Management/Supervision/Leadership
    • Budgeting and fiscal management
    • Survey protocols on a department and organizational level (TJC, State, etc.)
