Manager of Clinical Variation

Management Recruiters of Berkeley has been retained by a hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area to conduct a search for a Manager of Clinical Variation (MCV). The MCV works closely with the Chief Quality Officer to address unnecessary variation in care and improve the quality and efficiency of the clinical care provided. Variation in care includes both the underuse and overuse of services and procedures. Variations in care can be divided into the categories of effective care, preference-sensitive care, and supply-sensitive care. Each of these categories will addressed by this Manager in collaboration with the Manager Value Analysis, Quality Medical Directors, Service Line Leaders, and other Medical Directors. This effort to address clinical variation will require information management and analysis, team-building, guideline development, and implementation and ongoing execution.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or other healthcare related field required, Masters preferred.
  • A valid California RN License.
  • Five or more years of direct clinical experience.
  • Five years previous experience in quality that encompasses utilization management, appropriateness of Care, and standardization of clinical care and best practices.
  • Experience in analysis of data and in sharing and explanation of data to clinicians, physicians, and Leaders.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
